Endocrinology Typing Practice
This page sets the trainer up with the endocrinology pack: diabetes, thyroid, adrenal, pituitary and bone note lines, endocrine lab and imaging reads, and endocrine drugs with doses. Pick Endocrinology in the Specialty menu or use a preset below to mix the pack into the general clinical corpus.

What endocrine notes are made of
Most endocrinology typing happens in clinic: new consults for abnormal thyroid tests, nodules, high calcium, adrenal incidentalomas, pituitary lesions, low testosterone and weight management, and return visits for diabetes, thyroid, bone and gender-affirming care. Inpatient work is consults for hyperglycemia on steroids, tube feeds or around surgery, DKA and HHS, insulin pumps, adrenal crisis, and sodium problems after pituitary surgery.
The assessment and plan carries the most text, and it is mostly numbers with thresholds attached. Diabetes notes record the A1c, point-of-care glucose, CGM metrics such as time in range and time below range, and pump settings written as ratios. Thyroid notes pair TSH and free T4 with a dose change in micrograms. Adrenal and pituitary workups use named tests with cutoffs, and bone notes restate T-scores at three sites. The shorthand is dense: TDD, ICR, TIR, FT4, RAI, MMI, LT4, HC, DST, ARR.
What the endocrinology pack adds
The pack adds 1,038 items and gives extra weight to 496 related items in the general corpus. Diabetes gets the largest share of its 545 note phrases: basal-bolus titration, steroid and tube-feed insulin, hypoglycemia charting, bedside pump checks, DKA and HHS management, and CGM and pump download review. Thyroid, adrenal, pituitary, calcium and bone, gonadal and obesity lines follow each problem from screening to confirmation to treatment. The 98 report lines cover thyroid ultrasound with TI-RADS, Bethesda cytology, adrenal CT, pituitary MRI and DXA.
- CGM report: time in range 58 percent, time above range 38 percent, time below range 4 percent
- Pump settings verified at bedside: basal 0.8 units/h, carb ratio 1:10, correction factor 1:40, target 120
- Reduce insulin infusion to 0.05 units/kg/h and keep glucose near 200 until ketosis clears
- Increase levothyroxine from 100 to 112 mcg daily, recheck TSH in 6 weeks
- TI-RADS 4 nodule measuring 1.1 cm, follow-up ultrasound recommended in 1 year
- 1 mg dexamethasone suppression test cortisol 1.2, adequate suppression
Dosing covers 114 drugs: insulins such as insulin glargine 0.1 units/kg subcutaneously daily, noninsulin diabetes agents with their titration steps (tirzepatide 2.5 mg subcutaneously weekly x 4 weeks), antithyroid drugs, glucocorticoid replacement and stress dosing, bone agents and sex hormones.
How to practice
With Endocrinology chosen, about half of the draws come from the pack and half from the general corpus, and the category chips filter both. For an inpatient diabetes day, turn on Note Phrases, Physiology & Labs and both drug chips. For reads, use Radiology & Path Findings with Physiology & Labs.
The Abbreviations toggle switches each pack phrase between two forms, and in this pack the difference often sits in the numbers: "DXA: lumbar spine T-score negative 2.7, femoral neck negative 2.1, total hip negative 1.8" becomes "DXA: LS T-score -2.7, FN -2.1, TH -1.8". Practice both, because dictated reports spell values out and clinic notes do not. Start in Block mode, which holds you at each mistake until it is corrected; a wrong digit in a unit dose or a carb ratio is the error that matters. Switch to Cascade once accuracy is steady, to practice keeping pace. Realistic frequency favors everyday terms; Even brings rare syndromes and named tests forward. Five to ten minutes on most days is enough to see progress. AI Mode works with all of these settings, and no account is needed: progress is kept in your browser.
Common questions
Can I drill insulin and other endocrine doses on their own?
Yes. Select Endocrinology, turn on only the generic and brand drug chips, and raise the dosing slider. Endocrine drugs then appear with dosing strings, mixed with general drug names and their doses.
Does the pack include pediatric endocrine dosing?
No. Pediatric regimens such as puberty suppression and growth hormone for children were left out, along with test protocols that have complex timing. The pack covers adult clinic and inpatient endocrinology.
